OUR STORY //

Built for the long view

An older man and woman standing and talking outdoors during sunset with mountain scenery in the background.

We started Red Barn to bring institutional discipline to family portfolios—and to make space for something bigger than returns alone: stewardship. The work is practical and human. It’s about providing for today, preserving capacity to sow again, and making room for legacy.

DISCRETIONARY MANAGEMENT //

Why “Red Barn”

Across the countryside, red barns safeguard the harvest—ensuring families have abundance through the winter and seed to plant in spring. That picture guides our decisions. Portfolios should protect what’s been earned, sustain what’s needed, and keep the next season in view. For us, investing is a means to continuity: values carried forward, opportunities funded on purpose, and fewer surprises for the people you love.

Three principles we operate by

  • Provide for today: design cash flows and guardrails you can live with.

  • Preserve capacity to sow again: keep a growth engine working behind the scenes.

  • Make room for legacy: align structures and roles so wisdom—not just wealth—passes on.

WHO WE ARE //

Our Values

(and what they look like in practice)

A grandfather, a young woman, and a small boy are sitting on a wooden bench outdoors, smiling and laughing together amidst a fall setting with trees showing autumn colors.
  • We treat every decision as if a future generation will read the notes.

  • In practice: documented mandates, rules-based rebalancing, quarterly reviews.

Stewardship

  • Plain English, no mystery.

  • In practice: simple diagrams, clear reporting, “why” behind each change.

Clarity

  • Process over headlines.

  • In practice: risk guardrails, rebalancing triggers, tax-aware implementation.

Discipline

  • Advice first, products second.

  • In practice: third-party custody, transparent fees, no sales agenda.

Independence

  • Wealth is a tool for good.

  • In practice: Family Meeting facilitation, giving strategies, “giving while alive.”

Generosity

  • Compounding needs time and calm.

  • In practice: horizon-based portfolios and behaviour coaching through cycles.
